During the nine days of celebration that leads to Dusshera, Hindus have a custom of planting foodgrains (usually barley seeds) in a small bed of mud on the first day. The shoots on the 9th day are given to friends, as a blessing from the Goddess. We didn't have barley, so we tried with mustard seeds and turned it into a forest with Kunal's toy animals. We weren't very hopeful given the UK weather, but it turned out not bad. Here is an ariel shot of our jungle.
