# Day 220 Photographing Light

For a change, there has been plenty of sunshine in Cambridge, which makes taking photos both tricky and interesting. So, for the next few days, I want to post pictures that capture light (and shadows!).

# Day 218 Welcome Autumn!

For those who might not know, this is a pumpkin flower growing in our backyard. To mark the first day of Autumn, I wanted to pick something which is very autumnal, and yet not your typical autumn shot. This picture, I thought, satisfies those criteria.

# Day 217 Misty Mornings = My Autumn Delight

This was the scene from our bedroom window at 8.30 in the morning today as we were heading out for the school run.

# Day 216 The Big Friendly Read

September 13th is Roald Dahl's birthday. This year it is extra special, as it marks 100 years since Dahl was born! All summer long, libraries all over the UK have been celebrating Dahl and "his swizzfiggling storytelling" with The Big Friendly Read. As a parent, I was really excited and happy about the idea. So, it certainly deserves a mention in the blog as one of this year's highlights. This picture is from our local library, all set up for the Mayor to come in and give prizes away to the successful readers.

# Day 215 Illumination Pink

I had no idea what this flower was called, but this is my all time favourite colour. For lack of a better term, I used to call it "onion pink", and had often thought of renaming it in my head as dawn pink. A friend visiting us told me that the flower was called Illumination Pink Foxglove. I loved the description of that colour; it is so befitting!

# Day 210 Flowers, with love!

“And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you.”

# Day 208 The Peace of Wild Things

When despair grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
